Blurb writing: $1 per 1000 words of manuscript
Synopsis writing: $2 per 1000 words of manuscript
Manuscript assessments (fiction): $3 per 1000 words of manuscript
Proofreading:
Under 5000 words (including academic essays and short stories) = $50
5001 – 29,999 words = $70
30,000 + = $2 per 1000 words
Copy editing: $3 per 1000 words of manuscript
Intensive editing: $10 per 1000 words of manuscript
Formatting for Kindle and Createspace: $2 per 1000 words of manuscript
I am a newcomer in the world of freelance editing and services, having just launched my own business with only just over a year's commercial experience and four year's editing on and off on a non-commercial basis before that. This is reflected in lower charges than other, more experienced editors. But never fear - your work receives the same levels of time, care, and attention to detail as it would in the hands of more experienced editors (perhaps even more!).
