Over the last few months, I've done a lot of research as I was preparing to dip my toes into the world of freelance editing. One thing I noticed repeatedly was the ridiculous pricing of some freelance editors. What indie author has the funds to pay one person $300 to proofread their first manuscript? On top of that, most successful authors recommend having more than one person edit and/or proofread your work. That all adds up over time. Some people want to publish because they love to write, not because they expect to be the next big author. This is where I come in with an offer of much more reasonable pricing. I've got a few years of editing at a mid-sized newspaper under my belt, but I'm still a young'un. Since I'm new to the freelance editing world, I don't have a portfolio that speaks to 20 years of experience, but everyone has got to start somewhere. My mother always said, "You have to put in the work before you can see the results." With that being said, if you'd like to take a chance on me, we can work something out where you only pay a small fee AFTER you're completely satisfied with my work. There's no payment required from you up front. That's right, there's no deposit. Zip. Zero. Zilch. It starts with a free sample edit of 2,000 words from any point in your manuscript. If you like it, then we can continue forward and hash out all the details. If not, it's no skin off your nose. Hi Ashley - I’ve recently self-published Lake Barcroft a novel. It’s gotten good reviews on Goodreads generally but the last one said the book suffered from poor editing. So….can you help me?
- Jeff
