Project and themes: A story about a young man who has dedicated his life to helping his crazy big sister. I ask: how much of yourself do you owe family? How much does a parent owe a grown child? A brother owe a sister? I wonder what is the nature of the relationship between brother and sister when they aren’t really blood related. I’m playing with the idea of a young person cast too early into a grownup world. I’m having fun with a righteous co-dependent main character who thinks he understands what is going on around him. I wonder if I can skew reality for the reader.
This is a fiction piece that takes place in the Santa Cruz surfing community.
