I am currently finishing my degree in Creative Writing (prose) at the University of East Anglia, where I discovered my passion for editing and beta-reading. I write literary short fiction and am currently writing a YA novel.
I have experience reading and editing narrative non-fiction and memoir as well as literary fiction, genre fiction, speculative fiction, romance, and fantasy. I am open to reading anything, as I feel that a good reader should be able to offer useful edits and suggestions in any genre.
I'd love to help you make your story really stand out and I find that this is best achieved through the workshop experience, which form the basis of most creative writing programs.
I will make at least two or three passes over your story or book chapters, giving suggestions and asking questions on voice, point of view, narrative arc, characterization, and other storytelling elements. I pride myself on not being overly prescriptive but rather in working hard to understand the kind of story you are trying to communicate and help you find the most effective way to tell that story and reach your audience.
I will also do some proofreading, though line editing will not be the majority of what I am doing. This will be available as an additional service.
I am open to negotiation on price.
